Haiti Initiatives
Project K.I.D. continues to partner with numerous organizations to provide relief initiatives to the children of Haiti. Nine months after the January earthquake that devastated millions in an already impoverished country, the needs are not subsiding but Project K.I.D. is still present and making a difference in the lives of many. From the shipping of needed supplies and materials to the training and employment of Haitians working with children in the field of Early Care and Education, Project K.I.D. is there! Toy Production Micro-Industry
Project K.I.D. is hoping to replicate a toy manufacturing workshop that is located in the Dominican Republic. The coordinator of this workshop is willing to consult on a start-up in Haiti. The workshop in the Dominican Republic employs four individuals who have varying disabilities. These folks produce wooden puzzles, peg boards, toy storage bins, and other items upon receipt of prepaid orders, some of which come from Haiti. Project K.I.D. desires to:
- find a partnering organization to provide physical space in Haiti for this Toy Production Micro-Industry, space required is limited to one room approximately 20'x20' with access to electricity, water/sink, and outdoor access
- obtain funding to purchase in Haiti or the Dominican Republic the supplies needed to begin toy production (donation of the supplies will be accepted in Haiti)
